The INKA line uses medical plants with great history, that are native from Peruvian Andes and Amazon Rain Forest with extended traditional knowledge and experience of use.
Why Peru?
Peru commands exceptional biodiversity. An estimated 20,000 different species of plant grow here, accounting for 8% of all known species worldwide.
Together with our Peruvian partners, we endeavour to explore and sustainably exploit the country’s natural resources for application in the cosmetic industry. For this reason, we prioritise native botanical components and aim to support the economic development of local communities through the principles of fair trade.
Why Incas?
The Inca civilization was amazing in many ways. In little more than 300 years, the Incas created an empire that stretched from present-day Colombia through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia to northern Chile and Argentina.
Furthermore, the Inca culture developed sophisticated uses of medicinal plants before the Spanish Conquest in the early sixteenth century. Healing traditions and knowledge have passed down through generations of curanderos, lay healers who used their experiences curing body and soul simultaneously, to treat illness and improve patients’ spirit, which was a very progressive approach. They have believed that the body is a temple. They worshipped the earth and its elements for understanding the connection between nature, health and beauty.
The Andean Cosmology considers Man and the Pachamama (from Quechua language, Pacha= Earth, mama = mother) as one entity. With this beautiful approach and understanding, a great number of plants were cultivated not only for food but also to preserve their welfare. Many of these plants are considered today “Functional Foods” because they provide benefits beyond nutrition; they are also innovative cosmetic ingredients.
